The process of compensation (NHIF)
Take advantage of the opportunity to get the compensation provided by the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF)

From 2017 all persons insured with compulsory health insurance have the right to receive a hearing aid free of charge: adults can receive one hearing aid for one ear and children under the age of 18 years (a group of children includes those under the age of 24 who study at special and high schools) can receive hearing aids for one or both ears.

JSC „Opera – klausos sprendimai“ is one of the first companies entered into a contract with the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) and serves clients in charge of compensating hearing aids. Our customers can get (NHIF) compensated hearing aids for all classes or use compensation for the purchase of a premium device.

Procedure for compensation of hearing aids

The patient, in need of a hearing aid, should first see his family doctor, who will refer him to the specialist doctor. The hearing aid, compensated by the Compulsory Health Insurance Fund, can only be prescribed under certain medical indications by otorhinolaryngologist, who, upon evaluating the patient’s health and determining the need for a hearing aid, issues the evidencing extract (form 027/a).

If a hearing aid is prescribed for an adult patient for the first time, the degree of impairment is diagnosed, and the compensated hearing aid is prescribed by the otorhinolaryngologist, working at the tertiary care outpatient and (or) inpatient clinics, providing otorhinolaryngology services. If a hearing aid has been prescribed for an adult patient repeatedly, the compensated hearing aid may be prescribed by the otorhinolaryngologist, working at the secondary care outpatient and (or) inpatient clinics, providing otorhinolaryngology services.

Degree of hearing loss is diagnosed and the compensated hearing aid for children is prescribed by the otorhinolaryngologist, working at the tertiary care outpatient and (or) inpatient clinics, providing otorhinolaryngology services, both in case of the first time and repeated prescription.

A family doctor should recommend to the patient the medical centers, where the secondary or tertiary otorhinolaryngology services, required by the patient, are provided.

When addressing for acquiring the compensated hearing aids

When coming to OPERA hearing aid centers for acquiring compensated hearing aids, it is necessary to bring with yourself the following:

  • an extract of the medical documents, properly filled by otorhinolaryngologist (form 027/a), specifying the group of a hearing aid, according to the degree of hearing loss,
  • hearing test – audiogram, performed by otorhinolaryngologist, as well as the identity document.

IMPORTANT!
A medical extract is valid for maximum 180 calendar dates from the date of issue.

Hearing aids with extra payment for those who need more

The compensation is usually insufficient for better hearing aids, which are characterized by exceptional technological features. Therefore, in the OPERA hearing centers, customers can acquire hearing aids with extra payment. Extra payment for technological features is made by the insured for his chosen hearing aid, which costs more than the compensated hearing aid of the same purpose due to its technological features. The difference between the higher price of more expensive hearing aid and the basic price of the compensate hearing aid is additionally paid to the hearing rehabilitation center.

At OPERA hearing centers, the aids are always selected by taking into account the individual needs, lifestyle and financial possibilities of a customer.
